I am curious – are the topics for each week’s sermons released early so that a person might read the passage before the sermon, or is the sermon covering the passage which we then go home to read and further contemplate? Or is the sermon a continuation on what is covered in Bible class prior to church?
Odd questions I’m sure, for someone who is familiar with this, but I have been absent from church for decades and am curious as to how this works. I am contemplating returning to church but am unsure of where to start.
The sermon title and scripture references are typically determined by Thursday before the Sunday the sermon is preached at CBC. If someone wants to know the scripture reference, he or she can call or email the church office and the secretary can provide that information. The title and reference, along with the sermon outline and questions for note taking are printed on the back of the church bulletin provided each Sunday.
