This class is designed to help expectant mothers and/or their support person(s) understand the principles and "recipe" for greater success with breastfeeding in the first 6 weeks after baby's birthday. Class size is limited to 8 mothers and their support persons. The class, and the breastfeeding information handouts provided, are free.
Due to time constraints, it does not cover returning to work or school and breastfeeding. However, the instructor can provide information on resources to help working moms or those returning to school.
It is best to take this class in your 5th or 6th month of pregnancy. Some babies do arrive earlier than expected!
The instructor has 30 years experience helping women breastfeed, from being a La Leche League Leader and certified childbirth educator, to working as a mother-baby RN, and certified lactation consultant in a NICU, pediatric hospital, and on mother-baby units. Recent experience includes teaching breastfeeding related classes for 11 years in a nearby hospital.
You may bring up to three support persons with you. Mothers with newborn babies may attend. If baby becomes noisy, please feed, change the diaper, or whatever baby needs. Class members will need to focus on the material, so if baby continues to disrupt for more than about two or three minutes, please take baby to a nearby room until he or she is settled. Of course you can breastfeed (or bottle feed) while in class.
Please do not bring young children to the class. If you have a fever or any symptoms of cold, flu, or COVID -- or any other contagious illness -- please do not attend the class. You may register for the next class.
Please bring a baby doll or stuffed animal with somewhat of a human form (teddy bear, etc.) with you to class. You will also need note paper and a pen or pencil.
You may bring light snacks to class, but please be thoughtful about strong food odors. Some pregnant moms can still develop nausea. The class lasts approximately 2 hours.
No recording is allowed. No smoking is allowed in class or on the property.
Please write any questions you might have about attending the class in the box provided on the form. Please do not write questions about breastfeeding. Just come to the class! 🙂
Finally, if something comes up and you will not be able to attend, please give at least 24 hours notice to the instructor so she can contact someone on the waiting list to attend. You can do this by sending an email to . Thank you!
